Mount Kidd RV Park

One of our favourite places to camp during the winter months is Mount Kidd RV Park located on highway #40 just south of highway #1 in Kananaskis Country, Alberta about 90 minutes east of Banff and an 70 minutes west of Calgary.

Ideally suited for winter camping, Mount Kidd RV Park offers a coin laundry, convenience store, coffee shop, sauna, pay showers as well as a comfortable reading room and arcade for those cold winter nights when campers want to stretch their legs and socialize.

The campsites are well serviced with water, sewer and electricity, however during the winter months neither the water, sewer nor the outlying washrooms are available. The lack of water and sewer hasn’t been a problem during our visits, however using the washroom located in the “Campers Centre” was often a cold and dark walk. Best to choose a campsite as close as possible to the main building.

Situated in a particularly beautiful area of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, winter activities abound and can be easily accessed from the comfort of your own RV at the centrally located Mount Kidd RV Park. Activities ranging from cross country skiing the groomed trails in the Ribbon Creek area to downhill skiing at the Nakiska Ski Area can be enjoyed within a short drive.

The trails surrounding the campground itself can keep campers occupied for hours. Trails up and down the valley as well as those along the adjacent Kananaskis River, while often deep with snow, provide an excellent opportunity to stretch the legs and enjoy the great outdoors.

Travelling south further up highway #40 are several more groomed ski trails in the Kananaskis Lakes area, or for the more adverturous there are ample opportunites for some backcountry skiing in some untracked powder.

Located in the nearby Kananaskis Village at the Delta Hotel are several restaurants and pubs that are sure to appeal to even the pickiest eater in the family. We like to strap on the skiis and ski over for supper but be sure to bring your headlight as it gets dark very early!

Offering a nice quiet valley, wonderful scenery and ample services winter camping at at Mount Kidd RV Park is fantastic.
